Director of Sound Recording and Music Technology

David Ivory is a Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum engineer, and producer. His gold and platinum RIAA awards include the Roots, Erykah Badu and Patti LaBelle as well as the Grammy-winning rock band, Halestorm. Ivory served as Trustee and President for the National Academy of the Recording Arts and Sciences’ Philadelphia chapter and continues to sit on national committees for the Grammys.

In addition to serving as Director of Sound Recording and Music Technology at Montgomery County Community College, Ivory is also a guest speaker at Drexel and Millersville universities. He currently co-chairs Philadelphia’s new Music Industry Task Force and sits on the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia chapter of the Recording Academy (Grammys).

Assistant Professor of Music

Michael Kelly holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Music Theory and Composition from the State University of New York at Fredonia School of Music and has been writing, recording, teaching and touring both nationally and internationally since 1984. While living in New York City, he wrote and recorded professionally with the Ronnie Gent Band, The Grip Weeds and Wide Right. Michael plays the double bass with the Bravo Jazz Trio, Independence Sinfonia and the Orchestra Society of Philadelphia and maintains a busy tour schedule with the Femmes of Rock.

Jen Mitlas

Instructor of Sound Recording and Music Technology

Jen Mitlas is a musician and sound artist based out of the greater Philadelphia area. She earned a BA in Film & Media Arts from Temple University and is currently completing her Master’s of Music Degree in Music Production through the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Mitlas was a 2015 Sundance Institute/ Knight Fellow for her work in sound design and music composition for film.

Currently, Mitlas serves as an instructor at Montgomery County Community College, where she shares her love of music by teaching in the College’s Sound Recording and Music Technology Program. Most recently, she has started a chapter of Beats By Girlz, with the goal of helping women thrive in the music industry.
